POETRY: Indians

Editor's Note:

"The White men came, committing bloody sins. They stole the gold and oil and grabbed the land. The Palestinians are Indians," writes rhymer Christopher Patrick Nelson in a striking poem.

INDIANS

The White men came, committing bloody sins.

They stole the gold and oil and grabbed the land.

The Palestinians are Indians.

They named the Natives savages with grins.

They called them rats and roaches, cool and bland.

The White men came, committing bloody sins.

The churches blessed the butchers in their wins.

Old Europe helped them take their gruesome stand.

The Palestinians are Indians.

The Yankees and Israelis scorned dark skin.

They shot the children, plotted maps, and planned.

The White men came, committing bloody sins.

They raped the Native girls who begged within.

They left their carcasses to rot on sand.

The Palestinians are Indians.

A gun is not complex, Americans…!

Is it so hard for you to understand?

The White men came, committing bloody sins.

The Palestinians are Indians.
